Materials Technology (DT)
Qualification: Technical Award (Equivalent to GCSE)

Students will study and develop a variety of resistant material-based skills, including the use of equipment related to a variety of woods, metals, plastics, industrial spray finish techniques, computer-aided design (CAD) and manufacture (CAM) and model making. Students will investigate industrial processes, products and manufacturing in the product design industry. Mini-projects will involve researching, designing, planning and making high quality, commercially-viable products which will be produced in the form of 2D and 3D prototypes/CAD work.
Assessment: There are two assessment components.
Component one (60%): Practical Exam / Internal Project
Component two (40%): Written examination
