Physical Education (PE) - Learning Map

 

Qualification: GCSE

Exam Board: Edexcel

Pupils will develop theoretical knowledge and understanding of the factors that underpin physical activity and sport, and use this knowledge and understanding to improve performance. They will understand how the physiological and psychological state affects performance in physical activity and sport. They will perform effectively in different physical activities by developing skills and techniques and selecting and using tactics, strategies and/or compositional ideas. They will develop their ability to analyse and evaluate to improve performance in physical activity and sport. They will understand the contribution that physical activity and sport make to health, fitness and well-being. They will understand the key sociocultural influences that can affect people’s involvement in physical activity and sport.

Assessment: There are four assessment components. They contribute different amounts to the overall grade.

Component one (36%): Written examination, 1 hour 45 minutes
Component two (24%): Written examination, 1 hour 15 minutes
Component three (30%): Practical performance
Component four (10%): Personal exercise programme
