Visual Communications (DT)

Qualification: Technical Award (Equivalent to GCSE)

Exam board: WJEC

Pupils will study and develop a variety of graphic skills, the use of drawing equipment, drafting techniques, computer aided design (CAD), machine manufacture (CAM) and model making. Pupils will investigate industrial processes, products and manufacturing in the graphics and visual communications industry. Mini-projects will involve researching, designing, planning and making high quality, commercially-viable products which will be produced in the form of 2D and 3D prototypes/CAD work.

Assessment: There are two assessment components.

Component one (60%): Practical Exam / Internal Project
Component two (40%): Written examination
