Year 7, 8 and 9 Curriculum
Years 7, 8 and 9 comprises of 3 x 100 minute lessons and x1 50 minutes enrichment per day. In addition to Maths, English and Science, pupils are taught History, Geography, RE, Modern Languages, Computing, Drama, Music, PE, Citizenship, SMSC (social, moral, spiritual and cultural education) and specialise in an ADT subject in year 9 which they can continue studying into GCSE. All pupils in Year 7, 8 and 9 study either Spanish or French.
In all years there are a wealth of enrichment courses and clubs offered each day as session 4 in the school day. This is their 50 minutes of enrichmet. Year 7, 8 and 9 pupils have the opportunity to attend two enrichments club per week whilst Year 10 and 11 pupils attend study clubs as directed by their teachers and/or determined by their particular work demands throughout the year. In addition, we have Saturday school each week and holiday school at half terms & Easter.
In year 9, pupils are offered taster lessons in to subjects that are offered part of their GCSE options. Pupils are given opportunity to experience the subject so they can make an informed decision. They attend a subject fayre and are able to speak to subject teachers and get a broader understanding of the course content, examination and skill set gained as well as career opportunities.
